My wife and I were both
in our mid 30’s at the time of our first and only marriage which was during
Thanksgiving weekend 1992. We both had successful lives, she being with ING
NA of Atlanta Georgia for over 25 years and an Executive within ING NA.
After several years
with Wal-Mart and Home Depot I was then starting a promising business that I
continue to run today. Primarily assembling new battery packs for several
industries including broadcast news, film, DOD, and others. We also recell
all brands of dry cell rechargeable battery packs.
Shortly after our
marriage we were simply and obviously attacked by Satan. To such an extreme
that it is extremely obvious that we certainly have something to give back
to the community and Church and are a strong tool for Christ, not yet used.
In this letter we will
not go into our personal battles and the attacks on us, our lives, our
health, or my business.
Since 1993 we were
inundated with comments from well meaning people from different churches who
just did not have a clue. Besides those are the more shallow whose comments
focus and are limited to, “Isn’t God Great” and dogma.
Well, those apparently
have little to give and are of little use as a tool for the work of our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth. If you never participate in the work
of Jesus Christ you will never be under attack by Satan.
Since I was a child I
can honestly say, even without a white lie, that I have never questioned God
or been angry at God. My wife on the other hand used to be angry with God
to an Extreme. Some have come to us and said that it is OK to be angry at
God and to Question God. Throughout the Old Testament, and also in the New
Testament, Godly people have shown anger at God and or questioned God’s
judgment. To say there are examples does not mean those examples are the
best avenue. In each occasion each of these people eventually had to deal
with God and place their anger or questioning on the table and admit among
other things, a lack of faith.
Since I was a child I
have always held in My heart the events of Job, and that in itself, created
enough fear from me and reverence for God never to be angry with or question
God.
But, Why Do
Bad Things Really Happen To Good, Godly, People?
The Book of Job is an
Excellent starting point but God gives us at least one answer in the New
Testament. Because we are a narcissistic society this answer is the most
obvious and the most overlooked.
In the New Testament
God fulfills the prophecy of the Old Testament, like those prophecies of
Isaiah, and sends us His Son in Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Ø
Jesus Christ of Nazareth. God
in the Human Form of Man.
Ø
Jesus Christ was sent of God
with an agenda.
Ø
Jesus Christ was aware of the
agenda and chose to go forward with the agenda of His Father in Heaven.
The Agenda
To fulfill another
prophecy that was necessary for the ability of Salvation to ALL humans that
would follow Christ in Faith.
Ø
To be born of a Virgin
Ø
To Live a Perfect Life
Ø
To be continually persecuted
by His own people
Ø
To be placed on a cross in a
most inhuman manner in humiliation by His own people
Ø
To Die On That Cross in
Terrible Pain
Ø
To bear what we could not see:
o
All the sins of All people
then and those not yet born. All.
Ø
To resurrect from the Dead
three complete days after His cruel death on the Cross
Ø
To be witnessed again alive by
great numbers of believers and the secular world of that day.
Jesus Christ asked His
Father in Heaven if there was any other way to save humanity besides His
death on the Cross, which also included a much greater burden and pain, His
bearing All of Humanities Sins in His blood.
There was No other way
and the Bible states that, because the pain and the sins of humanity were so
great, God turned His back on Jesus Christ during this process.
So, what
does that have to do with the question; why do bad things happen to good and
godly people?
Simply, Jesus Christ,
The Son of God, was persecuted from the time he stayed at the temple,
(approximately thirteen years of age), instead of traveling on with his
earthly parents. The persecutions were obviously too many to list and seem
infinite. It is my belief that Christ traveled several continents
during this time. Discovery channel.
Jesus Christ was sent
to bear ALL sins for all humanity and He chose to face this bad thing head
on. God sent His Son Jesus Christ to bear this pain, (Bad Thing), head on.
Since God chose to send
His Only Son to bear these Bad things for our salvation
Ø
Jesus Christ, Son of God,
Ø
Was endlessly persecuted
throughout His life on Earth
Ø
Never whined
Ø
Bore the Sins of All humanity
on the Cross
So, who
are we to think our lives should be any better than the life of Christ?
Ø
God is always
good
Ø
God has His
Own Purpose beyond our understanding
Ø
God did not
promise us Heaven on Earth!
Ø
Jesus Christ
Promised us that if we would follow Him, He would have a home, (Many
Mansions), for us in His Eternal, Heavenly Kingdom.
We are taught in the
Bible
Ask and you shall
receive
Seek and you shall find
This talks about the
Kingdom of God
In today’s society many
so called pastors teach a philosophy that takes these phrases and twist them
to mean God will supply great wealth on Earth. And that if you have bad
things happen in your life it is because you are not following God’s will.
BS.
Months before,
what in my opinion is influenced or overcome by that church's internal power
board, Preacher Earnest Easley
of Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta Georgia gave a fantastic sermon
series and rebuttal to these false doctrines in his first sermon series at
Roswell Street Baptist Church. The Sermon Series was titled, “In the
Valley”.
