Will my LCD bar continue to work?
-
I have a dead Digital ProPac or Hytron
battery. Will my LCD bar work after my battery is rebuilt by Rathbone Energy? Yes,
-
With any battery
of that type, we simply replace the dead battery insert with a
fresh higher quality battery cell insert. We remove only the
positive and negative leads of the old insert and then connect
those leads to the proper positive and negative
connections of the new battery insert. We do not adjust or
tamper with any existing circuitry inserted between the cells of those packs.
-
After we have
completed your pack the LCD bar will appear. Sometimes there will
be a display reading "EDO", "RES",
"Service", or a Lightning Bolt that will also appear. After running your battery
through several full charge - discharge cycles or through
several auto-calibrate cycles on your charger these readings
usually go away, not always.
-
While
reading your battery manual, (mentioned below), you will find
that the digital circuitry of the intelligent battery supposedly has a
learning mode to learn the continually changing characteristics
of the battery. This learning curve will effect when those readings go
away. Occasionally they do not, however, your new
insert is functioning fine, as will be noted in field
performance.
- Your LCD Panel will operate and your
viewfinder will continue to give readings as usual.
-
This is a
more sophisticated digital logic panel. Trying to keep the
explanation simple, In some manner this panel
-
Tells the digital
logic board when
-
The battery pack
has reached a certain amount of charge-discharge cycles
-
Or particular
pre-set algorithm is reached
-
Communicate this
with the charger system
-
Then will
advise you that the battery needs to be serviced with some form
of Service display
This
usually means the pack is nearing the end of it's life
expectancy and
you are advised that the battery pack is
dead.
-
Before
installation we charge and test the charge of these new battery
inserts.
We use Only
CADEX,
CHRISTIE, and PAG Battery Management Analyzers. (After a battery
is fully charged there is No continuous trickle charge on these
analyzers. They monitor the charge and supply a pulse
charge when necessary)
-
After installation
of the new insert,
before sealing and after sealing
your case, all quality checks are completed on Anton Bauer 2702
InterActive Chargers with the DDM for approval,
Then we ship
your fine product back to you.
-
Notes:
Many times clients have battery packs that go dead or stop functioning
with their manufacturers brand smart charger. Thinking the batteries
are dead they place them on a shelf until they are ready to rebuild or recell the
units.
The batteries actually go dead sitting on a shelf. The original
issue was actually communications between that battery and the OEM smart
charger. The batteries were actually fine and would have continued to
perform fine if charged on a Cadex or PAG analyzers.
-
IMPORTANT:
It has been our
experience with these particular "DIGITAL" batteries that after all the above
checks are carefully finished, still, a large percentage of these
batteries, estimated at >60%
on Dionic and Hytron, do NOT pass
the Test's of our AB2707 with DDM smart chargers because they came in
with internal circuit board damage that can only be discovered after a
new insert is installed and we loose all the time consuming labor.
-
Our
Rathbone Energy Lithium Ion
batteries are built differently:
- We have streamlined the internal circuitry of
our batteries and they to have built in protection circuitry to
ensure the highest degree of safety operation. They are
STILL Lithium Ion.
- By streamlining our batteries circuits we remove
unnecessary components that might be used to force someone's
battery to only work with one brand charger.
- Unnecessary components that have nothing to
do with the safety of the battery only increase the chance that
the battery will fail prematurely because of unnecessary
components being damaged when a battery is jolted or dropped.
